Alicia Spruill | Financial Coach
Alicia joined Compass as a Financial Coach in October 2020. She brings to her role at Compass a background in social work, finance, and human services. Alicia discovered her passion for supporting people of color to reach their financial goals while working in the mental health field. Most recently, she worked with The Home for Little Wanderers, providing in-home therapy for families with children with high emotional and behavioral needs. Alicia began her career in accounting and finance before she shifted to pursue opportunities that would combine her interest in finance with her capacity to inspire and encourage others.
As a financial coach, Alicia believes in the importance of "doing with and not doing for" when problem solving to inspire and motivate others to make positive financial decisions. Her coaching style is intended to bring the skills a client already possesses to the forefront and allow them to navigate their journey.
Alicia is especially committed to working with people in the Black community to unlock their full financial potential, who do not have the same access to resources as other more privileged groups. Her aim is to support people to understand where they are, identify where they want to be, develop goals, and take actions towards achieving those goals. In the long term, her goal is that the people she serves will obtain financial wellness and build generational wealth.
Alicia earned a BA from the University of Phoenix and holds a certificate in Accounting. She is a Certified Credit Counselor through the National Association of Certified Credit Counselors (NACCC). When she is not working, Alicia enjoys spending time with her friends and family, traveling, walking or jogging, and shopping.
