About Us

Mission & Vision Statement

Compass Working Capital (“Compass”) is working to end asset poverty for families with low incomes and narrow the racial and gender wealth divides.

Our mission is to partner with families with low incomes to build assets as a pathway out of poverty. We focus on reaching families led by Black and/or Latina women. To achieve our mission, we operate client-centered savings and financial coaching programs, deliver training and technical assistance to other practitioners, and shape policy solutions that dismantle barriers to asset building.

Values

Our core values guide everything we do, from how we work together as a team to how we engage with our clients and partners in pursuit of our mission and vision:

Believe in people

Believe in all clients and their ability to achieve their goals and dreams. Foster a culture of aspiration, dignity, and hope.

Keep Learning

Believe that ideas matter. Invest in our own learning and development, and in each other’s. Learn from successes and failures.

Go further together

Build trust, respect each other, and act with care and empathy. Find joy in what we do, and in doing this work as a team. Believe in and assume the best in each other.

Keep innovating

Be curious, bold, and creative. Ask good questions. Have the courage to try new things.

Pursue excellence

Hold ourselves to the highest professional and ethical standards in every aspect of our work. Strive to always do better.

Focus on impact

Pursue robust and meaningful outcomes. Face facts honestly and openly. Stay disciplined but nimble in our approach to achieving impact.

Value diversity, pursue equity

Respect and honor our differences as a strength. Lift up client voices and lived experiences to address and influence broader systems change. Strive to be a more inclusive and equitable organization in pursuit of our mission.
